Oswald Chambers was born in Scotland in 1874. He died at age 43, never attaining significant notoriety. By that time, he had published three books and was appreciated by moderate groups of people in the U.S. and Britain for his profound depths of insight. Although he died very young, his wife took short-hand at more than 250 words per minute and had carefully transcribed most of his bible teaching and sermons. His devotional, “My Utmost for His Highest” was published seven years following his death.
