My name is Joel Townsend and I’m in the midst of writing two Christian non-fiction books. This blog is an opportunity for me to share some ideas and receive feedback. I recently turned 60 years old and I’ve experienced decades of marriage, years of child raising and recent moments of grandchild-spoiling. I’m amazed that after almost forty years of walking with Jesus, there are still profound seasons of change and growth in my life.
Writing of “growth” and “change,” might seem like overused, empty words, but I can assure you it’s true. Five years ago my wife and I felt led by God to start a business and give all the energy and resources we had to make it successful. We failed utterly and suffered crushing financial losses. It was in a low place that God met us in a new way. In our need, God sent gracious people to minister to us. He miraculously restored our finances. I’ve learned that grace and peace has been poured into every one of our lives; we just often fail to see and embrace it.
I’ve often joked that my life has not been the peaceful path that comes to mind when you read the “Footprints” poem. The footprints of my life have been the imprints of the feet of Christ with the lines of my two heels in the sand where I was dragged back out of trouble. Seriously, God’s mercy has rescued me more times than I can count. Perhaps you can learn from my mistakes.
